Title: Dangerous Entertainments
Name: Sergey Skachkov
Country: Russia
Software: Photoshop

This is the image I've made for the "Spectacular" challenge.
The story:
"It is an another's planet. The Crater-City. This city has arisen from a fiery lava spouting out of the ground. Strange constructions of the city grow and develop in itself. But their functionality and forms are programmed by scientists. They feed on the fiery lava. Eventually they harden and take
unusual bionic shapes. People lodge here to use energy of a lava for own needs. And their children search for exciting and dangerous entertainments for themselves. They jump from a bubble to another and soar from depths of the city to its tops. They risk very much, they can fall in a fire-spitting
precipice at any moment. But force of danger and adventures is very great. And they do it again and again."

This was a great entry - one of my personal favourites.

It's the kind of picture that needs to be seen in print - it will loose a lot of its impact in this format because you can't appreciate all the detail and scale.

Great work :)

Great Job! I was really dissapointed in the judging when this piece didn't fare better. The images that won were really great but this image is is right up there with them. It was my favorite of the 2d challenge. I can't wait to see what you come up with for the next challenge! You have awesome skills. 5 stars!

Thank you so much for your very good words! I'm very glad you like it! :) I didn't post here for a long time and I didn't look at this image myself, because I wanted to take a fresh look at it. Now I'm looking at the my image and it's a wonder to me how I had the patience to finish it. :)

A really creative concept and wonderful, lighting and color. One thing I would have liked to see was the character even more prominently in the foreground. I realize that you did this and when I went back to your progress in the compition I see that the close up shows this quite clearly. When you see the piece as it is posted here you don't get the full impact of the fun of the game. The background and the concept are stunning!

It is hard to finish art sometimes. I spent night after night working on my consept for the challenge and I was so ready to move on to something new. Your an amazing artist. I really was shocked not to see you in the top 6 but hey it's all fun and in the end it pushes us to be great artists. See you in the next one and keep up the good work. 5 star

The colors, angles/POV, details -- all are beautifully done. And there's enough going on to make it worthwhile for the viewer to spend time exploring everything. Exquisite work.
