I just checked the WikiCG (http://www.wikicg.com/wiki/index.php/3D_Softwares) list of available 3D software against the Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_computer_graphics_software) list of 3D software, and the Wikipedia's is much more extensive.
Can't you just copy and paste the Wikipedia entries into WikiCG? Maybe that would breach copyright, I don't know.

I am sure it is more extensive, this is a guy in the buisness who has gone out of his way to create one just for the sole purpose of an wiki for cgi.
But with everyone's help it can become a good place for a community and serve people for 2d and 3d animation.
So though it may not be extensive now it will be with your help

I know Luis and his project but I personally prefer wikipedia, actually I'm a contributor. One of the reasons I support wikipedia instead of wikicg is because in my understanding it tries to be more academic and there are some rules on how a good article may be written (no POV, no adverticles, etc), instead of being mostly a collection of press releases.
Of course you can say "if you don't like it, change it", but I don't like to work twice, specially if there are no clear guidelines.
Everyone is also invited to visit the computer graphics section of wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Computer_graphics), there's a subsection of 3D computer software (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:3D_graphics_software).
