Is there some way in Maya that you can define a Matte colour when applying a image file with an alpha channel used for transparency?

Just say in Photoshop you draw dark hair on a white background and make an alpha channel. When you apply this image as a texture with alpha-transparency in Maya you will see a white haze around the hair.

I'm looking for something similar to the feature in Photoshop Layer>Matting>Remove White Matte or the dialogue box in After Effects that opens when you import footage with an alpha channel asking you to define the matte colour.

good question as you mention it..
i think maya expects images to have a premult matte channel against black..
i dont think you can override that

cheers

Is there some option or plugin for Photoshop that will make a pre-multiplied matte?
