i am a maya user, and am trying out mentalray. i would like to see a bunch of mentalray rendered images to understand what mentalray is capable of..are there any good galleries of softimage/mr images out there? i saw the one on the softimage site already thanks

Look at anything done in xsi 2 or 3. Mr is perfectly integrated into both standardly

ive got sort of a problem with viewing technology galleries of this kind.
Its a bit like looking at a tube of oilpaint and asking "does it do rembrandt?". Ok im impressed, fight club, and whatnot.
but:
Id like to know how hard it was to make theese shaders, if it was mostly technical or mostly "creative" (not that im suggesting a conflict between the two)

Check out Softimage webiste. There are plenty of images there. Check the monthly galleries:
