Ive been over these forums a couple of times to look at other peoples work.

Now I've started to model myself and i was rendering some of my work... but it doesnt look anything like the renders i see on here(not finished, not texured ones).

could someone explain how to render like the image below... in 3ds Max (8.0)

i think that's a mix of ambient occlusion/skylight and one area light, maybe without shadows. do a search on 'ambient occlusion & mental ray', with max 8 you can do it for sure.

ambient occlusion is sometimes called 'ao', this could help when searching a thread...
