View Full Version : Has anyone ever tried making a city (WIP inside)
That Adrian Guy 11-30-2002, 09:22 PM Can you believe this is the first time I'm modelling something other than a live creature?
I quickly found that I'm not very good at it! Are there any tutorials for making buildings?
Here's what I have so far:
any advice as to where I should go from here?

I assume you've looked at the city flythrough set of tutorials on Maxon's site? The models are fairly basic, but worth a look if you haven't seen them yet.
Can't give you a direct link because of the way Maxon have their site set up, but this is where it is:-

Wow.. that's a really good tutorial!
(Thanks Maxon! he he)
This guy has done a pretty good job of building a 3D city.

The amount of work 3D strike put in to that scene is unreal.
LoL.. I spent a good 2.5 hours on my scene! half of that time was spent experimenting w/ stuff
When I built my old sc fi city I used reliefs with custom bump maps, and for closer up I used dislp maps, for closer still I used planes and extruded building and water ways etc using tags. Then I copied planes and made some buildings to fill the whole thing in,in the less dense areas :)
