View Full Version : WIP - Johnas, Redux.... (again)

Hi. in an ongoing effort to perect this little character of mine, i've decided to re-model him yet again. the earlier versions are in the game art W.I.P forum. this time, instead of just scaling everything up a bit and moving some verts, i'll be remaking him from the ground up. i found in my older versions there was a certain "dog-ness" to him, and i really don't want him to like someones dog. anyway, here's where i'm at with the head so far:
and a close up of the eye area, i can't quite figure out where to put these edges without increasing the detail in the area, and i really don't think more detail will help anything

k, i've rounded off the head a fair bit, though i haven't added any definition to the neck muscles, etc (see first post). i think i've almost sorted out the eye, but i'm still stuck with this little triangle:
i could really use some help with this bit, as well as any C&C on the model itself,
i've also added a sorta "placeholder" point for the ears and horns, but i think maybe for horns they need to be a smidge more forward and for ears a little farther back on the head
again, any C&C would be greatly appreciated

good start :) I'd personally run these lines across the nose towards the other eye... and push some that are running from the inside of the eyes across the nose a bit up - just make the lineflaw more regular...

the funny lines you mean? i was gonna do that initially, but i didn't really want to add the extra detail that would give me. i'll see about making the lineflow more regular though, thanks

nearly finished the head (see first post) just have the teeth and the rest of the inside of the mouth i think,
the current version is with one level of smoothing, which i'll drop after this, it's more to get a feel for how it looks, i've also added the horns,
here's my "when is it too much?" horn test:
basically i had made the blue ones first and felt that there was just too much horn going on, so i made the smaller ones, then put em both together for fun
C&C would be appreciated

while Cyrus is in UV-limbo, i thought i might post a small update here, just to say i'm still working on him
while keeping the muscle structure basically humaniod, i'm trying to find a good way to blend it into a more animal form, i don't know if i've succeded or not, but i like the way it's turned out so far.
if the proportions seem funny,
this is the sketch i did that i felt most accurately captured the character.
