I'm modeling a 2200-2400 triangle base male character, for potential use in Sanctus Legacy: Crux. (http://www.sanctuslegacy.com/) I was to include three 'finger' hands, and a riggable face.
Everything is in place except the inside of the mouth, and the model currently comes to 2366 triangles.

Any C&C would be appreciated.
I have a short turntable animation here (http://media.putfile.com/Turntableanimation) (I apologize for the use of Putfile, it's all i've got on hand at the moment)

looks good but there are some issues, for example you have some 5 sided polygons on the face, sides of the nose. this is THE place NOT to have them as they'll give you loads of visual errors when you animate.
you might want to model in quads, its a bit easier.

looks alright, it could be good with a few tweeks in the mesh and anatomy.
mesh: its pretty messy in the back and fixing it up will save trouble and space when you unwrap it. might want to add a loop around the foot for the toes. and theres a cut in the fingers that seems like a bit of a waste.
anatomy: i dont know if its the angle but the arms seem a bit short. the thumb is also too far forward. the chin also seems pretty big.

hey!!

just a quick one....
it looks like a lot of your edges need turning to give a "fuller" volume. (mainly on the face)
the back is indeed messy and could do with cleaning up.
the sub-divisions in the neck could do with being more evenly spaced.
have a look at your own hands and use them as reference in a relaxed pose. you have the thumb as an extrusion from the side of the hand, this isn't how nature intended it :)
the edge loop that goes around the mouth should probably end at the top of the nostril and not at the bottom.
his arse looks really flat.
his calf muscles look very angular.
you may want to arrange the poly's at the back of his legs to allow for better deformation.
hope this has been some help to you.
keep it up, and good luck. :)

cheers!!

Rob is right on.

I'd also check the length of the arm...wrist should end around the crotch and elbow is pretty much lined up with navel (hand should be length of his face, palm on chin and longest finger ends on hairline).
