I checked out this place a couple weeks ago. The owner posts on the highend 3D Maya Listserv.
It looks really promising actually. Using their calculator an animation that took me 2 days and 3 hours to render on my computer, would take 39 minutes if I went with them, and only cost $73 dollars. I think that is worth it if in a crunch. And the whole automated approach sounds interesting, as well as the 24/7 support. You just upload to a personal folder on their FTP, and it immediately starts churning your frames out and listing them for download in a subfolder. They’ll also express ship a DVD or CD with your frames on them if you don't have broadband.
The only thing missing is support for XSI, as I'm slowly migrating from Maya to XSI. I'm also wondering if they support Mental Ray for Maya (either the beta or the previous version).

I doubt they would support MR in the near future untill they brought in some serious capital. With all the other software they have listed they only have to buy one copy to get all their renderlicenses. With MR they have to buy one copy of MR for each processor which would cost them around $250,000. From the look of their operation, that would be like 8-10x how much it cost them to setup their company. I just don't know how big of a demand MR would be right now since XSI is still a pretty small crowd.

i think mentalray will be much more in demand once alias finishes the mentalray for maya plugin.

Hey Beaker, you forget that the Mental Ray for Maya beta is free, as will be the final release (Not standalone, just the MR for Maya renderer and translator).

True, it will make MR more popular, but it is still expensive on their side to implement it as a renderfarm solution. You can't network render with that and they would still have to buy a $2000 license of maya for each computer. Thats more expensive then buying MR for each machine. Its still a quarter of a million dollars that I doubt those guys can afford when they are charging so little for processor time. They are going to have to build up lots of capital to add MR to their entire farm.

True beaker,
Never thought about it like that. Perhaps they could get a few MR licenses.

We've used ResPower and they're AWESOME!! They did some Maya renders for us (I don't know if they do MR though, as our renders didn't need it).
Tell the Floyd and Tom from Icepond sent you!!
