View Full Version : Question: Simple Glow of Street Lamp
Andrei2k 11-30-2002, 12:00 AM I have tried fixing this problem for 6 months with no luck and I just now got an idea to ask all of you...
I have a street lamp set to glow in a scene and also the brake light of a car.....when the brake light of the car 'turns on' glows to .777 the Street lights glow dims....why is this?!?! I can't figure it out. I tried over compensating but the 'transfer of glow' still happens...please help....thanks.

You could change the glow on your taillight to be a glow on the shader only. It sounds strange that it would do that, though. Are they under the same light control? Or are they linked in any way? Try and give us more information and we can probably come up with some way to fix it for you.

This is because of auto exposure. In Maya help do a search for "auto exposure." You'll find an entry called "Troubleshooting Shader Glow." It'll tell you how to correct the problem.

iŽd strongly recommend using a compositing tool to make all glows, since mayas glow really sucks..
and even if it would not.. go for compositing :)
cheers
