View Full Version : Path Deformer inverts normals
rodney71 01-17-2006, 12:22 AM Not sure if others are finding this also, but for some reason when I use path deformer to deform a mesh like say a cube primitive, the resulting geometry reverses all the face normals so they point inward instead of toward the camera. This causes me some problems when rendering in Final Render stage-2 and I have to make sure at least to turn on "force 2-sided". Does anyone know a fix or way to resolve this?

Can someone else confirm that this is the same for them? Maybe Renato?

I can confirm. And a quick solution is to set the scale of the PathDeformer Object to
-1,-1,-1. Then the polys will be pointing outwards.

thanks for the tip. Renato sent an email back that suggested to invert the normals first. I think your suggestion suits me better since I don't have to make primitives editable.
thanks a lot.

I had a textured bus model and it too inverted the normals. All the bus textures came out the wrong way. The scale trick worked a treat for me.
