We have just got two demo seats of nuke 4.5 on osX (thanks heaps to D2 software ) and I can honestly say I am bown away at how nice it is. Still working through the tutorial material that our friendly neighbourhood reseller gave us. but so far seems to be a very well thought out application. I think they have a new fan !

Hey Aneks,

I know you've been with Shake for awhile, and although I don't need a full blown comparison of features, are you thinking that you might be using Nuke more often or stick with Shake?

Obviously for now, you'll probably stick with Shake as you're still learning Nuke, but do you see yourself making a Nuke purchase as your #1 comp tool in the future?

Just curious. Thanks!

Hey,

I like nuke, but any decision to purchase or change primary package would be entirely driven by my employer. For example I personally own seats of some After Effects and Photoshop but will not buy Shake and instead use my employers machines/licences on a daily basis.

As such any decision on how it will interate with our pipeline is not ULTIMATELY mine. I still need to spend more time in Nuke to see if its paint/tracking/keying is what we require, before going begging to my producer for licences. Hopefully my current eval period will allow me to put it through its paces.

Not too long our local reseller was very helpful and D2 where also really quick. We were already talking to those folks before the osX announcement so I think we may beat the rush for licences.

haven't had time to try the IBK (such a silly name). But am hoping to do do in the next few days. Yes there is a paint system in Nuke has been for a few versions.
