Hi folks

looking for a bit of friendly advice and knowledge if possible?

I got approached about an hour ago to do a composite on a film in which a church will be shown in a locked shot as burnt out.

From what i gathered on the call, they are gonna black out and damage the inside of the church, however the composite will involve a cinema 4d construction of the roof being removed with only burnt rafters left (3D models)

I'm going out tomorrow to see it being filmed, and if need be request an extra shootings.

Anyone offer any advice of certain things I will need, to help before the post-production stage?

thanks :lightbulb

good idea to get some evenly spaced reference points in there if possible. the rafters will be good that already exist but... see if you can get a few odd markers up on teh walls or somethign in a single frame, something that you can use to line up with and know 100% where those points are. likewise get all teh measurements of the building if you can for your model. it shouldn't be too hard provided you have the colour range of the shots used in there and can clearly see where things are (so another good thing is to make sure that you have one shot that has good detail lighting so you can see how everything goes rather than relying on a shot which is nice and moody but you cant tell where the wall is supposed to end or anything like that. measure where all the lights are, and if possible get their settings from the lighting rig guy, c4d can't give you stuff in lumens but at least it gives you a rough guide to what lights are where and how so that things don't look out of place. and dont forget to get the camera settings (same stuff as appears in teh c4d camera object really, dont forget position and rotation).

give a shot at putting this in the other forums too... most of the users for c4d don't do tv or film special effects with it, but the other packages do and the same rinciples will aply. check the general forum and compositing forums too... there's a wealth of knowledge on getting this right first time there.

don't know if any of this is useful as it's all stuff you probably already know through and through...i guess have fun on site.
