View Full Version : Can't get a newline? Can anyone help me with this problem?

In maya, both in the script editor and expression editor pressing enter on the keyboard does not get me to a new line. In the script editor it will execute the script and in the expression editor it does nothing. It seems like my keyboard enter key is acting like the numberpad enter key. This really sucks because I pretty much can't make an expression or use the script editor. Any ideas?

Thanks

sounds weird.

as a temp solution - i would write what you need in another text app - then just copy paste into maya.

Thanks for the reply. I have been doing something similar, just pasting in a "blank" set of lines. But maybe that way is a little better. Either way it sucks. Very weird problem.

very weird indeed...

could it be possible that it's related to the keyboard itself? Maybe it's a noname product from the 80's and they ran low on components, that's not a fault many people would notice. :)

I dont think its the keyboard, its my laptop and its only a year old. I will probably just try reinstalling maya later...

Sounds like it may be an issue with your GFX card drivers. Are you using a qualified card and drivers?

on my laptop it's the other way around: i don't have the numpad-enter, so in order to execute lines of code or single commands, i need to press ctrl+enter. i learned about this feature from doing a "RTFM", which my notebook-manufacturer kindly provided for.

just a hint ;)

My laptop is a hp pavilion zd7000, it has a numberpad. And the enter key was working like normal before so I wouldn't think it would be the graphics card.
