"January"
We will do ALL 12 months on the calendars for 2 weeks, OUT OF ORDER.

Have fun
We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
*ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

-Roberto

Oh great I have to go after rawwad. :D Awesome sketch man!

Here is mine.. took me about 1.5 - 2 hours on and off watching Animal Planet :D
Used a reference for the sun. It takes the earth one year to go around the sun... so in January it is time for a new spin.... hence my drawing

1.5- 2 hours with Photoshop elements, and tablet.

Oh I just bought Photoshop CS2 Web Bundle :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: so I am installing it tonight :D no more photoshop elements for me. :D

I've done a man hanging himself (hence the name), because after the holidays when everyone gets their credit card bills, and realize they're terribly in debt, they're going to want to DIE!

Rawwad- Incredible as usual.
InesD- Love the idea.
LiQuiD12- First time I've seen your work... I like it.

LiQuiD12 ohh its looks cold... we havent had any snow here for a while.. but its so cold with the wind that it sure looks like it.
Wiggin thanks... Lol I saw the image first before reading the explanation, I thought you might be having a bad day.. but I see now that its a joke and its all good :D

I'm starting to run out of ideas XD, but I guess you can't be wrong with samurai and snow lol
I was trying to emulate a bit the sumi-e style of painting with the background

http://narthalion.free.fr/Speed_Paintings/SoD/SoD_589_Ael.jpg
Photoshop CS ~1h

Rawwad : great compo and design, I really like your works ^^
InesD : You could probably make the sun a bit more firey and add depth to it by having more contrast in it. To do that eaily you can try setups such as "multiply", "screen" and "overlay" for your brush (to use with moderation, though ^^) it can do miracles for glowing objects such as fire.
LiQuiD12 :Nice pic, you could perhaps add some depth though by making the trees less dark and a bit bluer the farther they are
Wiggin : Do like me, don't look at your bank account during January and pray for February to come soon XD

January is usually a period I like to go skiing and meditate.
Once we were skiing with my girlfriend under a stormy snowytime and she told me
" If we stop more than one minute, we will need a excavator to extract ourself " .

I wish I could have fly !

Photoshop CS/ 35 minutes

aelwine I like your sumi-e style, its very fitting. Thanks so much for the tips on how to make my sun more firey.. I always have so much trouble making fire or things have real luminosity and be bright. I always appreciate crits and suggestions so thank you so much :D. Now that I have Photoshop CS2 I will try doing that with this image and see if I can improve it.
montevideoSame in Peru, wondeful summer and beach time :D
franck koboltThat looks like a dangerous situation.
DaPrato beautiful!
se7enthcinBrrr.. your image makes me feel so cold.. the snow on buildings and still coming down.. brrr.
Daw :bounce: HA! I love your cat! You have not drawn his face but I can just imagine his horrified expression looking down the big large mouth and teeth of that cat. Oh and thanks, I cant wait to use my new application it is so exciting. I have no idea where paperclip went.. I must find her and drag her back her. :D

Suuuuuuper late! :D

I really like these "month" themes. I'm sorry that I couldn't participate earlier...
I hope I can do some more. I like the idea of picking a month in history and make a sketch out of it.

Let's start with January 1945, The Battle of the Bulge.
http://www.marlonart.nl/web/sketch108.jpg

Painter, 1.5h, some ref used for the plane and tank (although from different angles so I hope they are a bit accurate :) )

Excellent sketches, I really like Rawwad's and Daprato's.
