****** UPDATES IN LAST POST ******
This machine was the first of it's kind used in Chile (and in South America) and it's even a war veteran. It's kept in a showcase in the headquarters of the Santiago Fire Department. I was also surprised to know that, after all this time, it still works.
C&C are welcome

I'm a bit surprised you got no answer so far, it's a very nice start and looks like it will become a really beautiful model :) I will be happy to see it updated :)

Added some more details and a couple of test scenes. The wheels are still not textured because I haven't found a decent wooden texture yet:

Wow! Increible loco, en serio. La unica cosa que veo, es el rojo, parece muy plano, como la luz no interacta con el. Pero aparte de eso, andai bien.

Thanks a lot for your comments.
I've almost finished modeling the building and partially textured some windows to get some idea of how they're going to look. I'm really impatient to get to the part where I'll set the whole thing on fire... [insert evil laugh here]

Major overhaul to the project.
Sometimes artistic accidents happen, making things better. I was making some color corrections to a rendered image, with Paint Shop Pro, when I suddenly made a minor mistake. Then I though "mmmm... not bad at all...", so I turned the original scene into a painting. I now have a completely new idea on how to portray the original fire engine model, and this painting will be an important part of it. :buttrock:

Very nice Blender modeling. What are you using to render, YafRay?
