Theres an old submarine pen by my house and on a dogwalk I was inspired to maybe recreate it in cg. it would fit right in with my other project of a panzer.
It's very simple in terms of shape, the the texture on it was so beautifully corroded that I want to replicate it! I'm pretty gutted because my camera died so I only have tiny picture to work from to model.
I've made the basic geometry and started hand painting the textures. it will need some major bump mapping before you even start to get an idea of how cool this will (hopefuly) look

Crits welcomed at this early stage!
Cheers

Interesting start. Do you think you could get some photos of the real deal? You also might want to take pictures of the actual texture for better texture accuracy!

Thanks. I have lots of resourcer to work from so no worries there. I'm going to make it look like an old monochrome photo. I saw white light shining through the doorway once and I have the image I want stuck in my head.
My photo of the bunker taken 4 years back:

Its got a little landing bay below it. Reportedly for WW2 american submarines.
Shame is now its full of litter, stinks of piss and and is poisened hyperdermic needles.

It's coming along nicely. Liked the 'battle damage' :) from the small arms fire, cracks, paint peel etc. Any chance of different views of the bunker or just the entrance? Also, the scene is nicely lit.
A little off topic here: I've read the freelance interviews and so far they've been very
informative and helpful. Got to get myself registered someday :D You're doing a fantastic
job, keep it up!

hey, thanks for the comments!
juln: I may do other views of the bunker, but probably as seperate projects. Glad you liked the interviews! Which reminds me I still need to do some!
Its getting scary now, I keep on thinking its a photo!
I REALLY need crits now guys.

That looks really nice, the lighting is superb!
Only thing I can see is that the texture above the right (our right) column looks blurry, same with the bottom of it. Also the inside doesn't look as detailed.
Keep it up

Looking nice  I'm not 100% keen on the ground texture. Also I can see a few more blurry textures (unless its just me) the actually column on the right (in the middle mostly), and
bottom of the left column (the base of it )
:bounce:

quoted for agreement :)
other than the blurry spots, this can pass for a photograph, fantastic work:applause:

Lookin' groovy Simon, Maybe try breaking up the straight edges in the far doorway? Not really neccessary, just an idea. Right now they're pretty straight, maybe try taking out a few chunks of stone ?
