This is kind of a noob question but is there any way to add detail to the edges of an object (blue box, not like red) with the use of a plugin or in max, instead of using slice or cut. I hope you understand what i mean.

You can in editable poly> select polygon> selects the polies you wish to add "detail" to and tesselate.

That what you are looking for?

In Editable poly, poly subobject, select the faces and use Inset.

Thanks! Im not used with poly only mesh. Tessellate seems to be a nice way to add detail if you already have cuts in the corner, otherwise it will just add cuts in the center of the object. And inset seems to almost do the jobb right but adds 4 cuts/lines that is unnecessary to me. It makes the object round instead, which is not what i want.

Box converted to poly and used inset and then meshsmooth, adds detail to corners but not what i want.

Box converted to mesh and used Slice Plane and meshsmooth. This is what i want but just with a push of a button, just like inset but instead of the four lines that will make the object round when smooth.

Tesselate the entire box then scale the inner lines.

You can graduate the intensity of the meshsmooth so it works not rounded.
But I prefer turbosmooth working on a poly worked with inset like said and
crease to straight the edges you want (crese=1.0 on them)

Not mine (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=40373&page=40&pp=15#post615886), but thanks!

Unfortunately if you do that the corners are chamfered as well, doesn't subdivide well. Try it!

Yeah polyboost is amazing.
