Hi,

At the moment I'm working at a small program that lets me group the different parts of the "movie" I'm working on. I writing the script the characters doing the storyboards etc etc. While I was doing this a couple of things kinda got a mess. So I thought I'd put my university classes to something concrete and help myself by creating a program that lets you include everything from start to end on a film project. script, characters, scenes, images etc. the whole bunch put into one big Database where it should be easy to find files back.

So I started working and just underneath you can see a part of what has been done as a first try for the scene definition part. Because I'm rather new to really writing scripts (have done some story writing before) I was wondering if in here other people would be interested and could give me some help by maybe making a list of what would make this program usefull for you to use (once it is finished I'm planning on putting it as a free download). So if somebody has some ideas (like for the characters what kind of fields would you'd like to see (name, qualitys etc.)) that would be great.

thanks for any help

I tried to make the production of the mixed media animated film I'm working on now as smooth as possible through the use of a filemaker pro database and the like... I ended up adding in tons of information that I never used for each entry (Matchmove, greenscreen, lipsync, and various image containers to track the progress of each shot)... So for each entry what I did end up using was... Shot#, Shot duration( I took the times from an EDL exported from the animatic), The Storyboard image, Location(popup menu), Characters, notes, and a checkbox to click when the shot was done....I attached an image from the database.... So my workflow was like this.... I would group the shots by sequence(my film is made up of 11 sequences) then I would export the images from each shot and print them as a contact sheet in Photoshop, I found it much easier to be able to have the storyboard images printed in front of me so I could cross them off as I went and its also helps you with the continuity... Then I had printed worksheets that followed the shots progress.. for example...Shot#, Stopmo animation, Stopmotion keyed, Character 3d, bg 3d...I attached an image of the worksheet... I would simply check them off as each stage for the shot was done... Your app is looking good! It would be awesome if it somehow tied into one of these services...

Good luck.

Hi 2a03, thanks for your feedback very usefull. The two links you gave look like very developped programs hehe and they gave me quite some more ideas about building everything in. Don't know if I'll make it that complex or not (will depend on the interest of other people also). your two sheets are very usefull too. I'll see there should be a way to integrate these sheets and make the filling in and out of the program rather easy and not that time consuming.

I'll get back programming and see if I can bring up another view screen caps of the program working. The main database has been set up and connected and the program is running but still very empty. So if some more people have some ideas feel free to let me know
