Well it has been a blast. I started out with the tut on Maxon "Halloween House" .. I had never worked in a 3d app before. I have read a lot and had more then a few stumbles. Yet not once was it "not fun". Needless to say I love the software. I completed the tut and then branched out some. Tried my own texterues and lights. Made me a little fog light by making 2 boxes. One glass and the other with cut out nurbs. Very primitive but it has only been a few days.

All said and done I am very proud of what I have so far. Considering I had never heard the term "nurb" or "spline" before. I am sure it will be funny to look back a year from now at this but at no point did I ever get discouraged.

Anyway it has a lot to go, some windows, the door, and I plan to build a outhouse, ground, and more atmosphere. The light in the window is supposed to be a ghost .. I tried :)

I remember my first C4D files,it was the stingray tute and I just kept on repeating it over and over until it stayed in my anti matter{gray matter, mine behaves like anti matter}...well kind of stayed in my anti matter :D

Keep at it...ya in a years time you will look back on fondly.Keep the image so you can gauge your progress :)

that's pretty damn good for a first work in 3D!!! keep up the good work!!

i remember my first 3D-work. i tried to copy TinToy from the Pixar Shot!
i don't need to say, that i had to pay a high price for my arrogance, do i? :D
didn't even come close to the original and never went far enough to be animated :)

As a first image, that is fantastic, I first came up with 10 cylinders stuck together to make a bouncy castle, I was dead impressed with myself ;-) Not bad considering I had an 8 colour 640x256 screen and no 3D view :o)

One thing I will say, is watch some cheesey daytime TV soaps. Night shots never feature realistic lighting, because they are always too dark!

Add some streaks of dark blue light to pick up some details and shape on the object, this is what they do in a lot of TV and film. You can have a dim white light from above which will easilly be passed off as moon light.

very good for a first image. Mine was a chrome ball on a checkerboard. Am I showing my age there? Good luck with the updates.

I remember my first ever piece of 3d was a poser guy doing a christ air and then i added a lens-flare in the background with psp7  those were the days....
I think my first c4d piece was a carrot compromising of 3 primitives or something...

Hmm I don't think those high windows look like they where made from glas

yeah it was my very first experience with 3d at all

They are glass just tuned so you can not see through them. Obviously nothing is behind them and that would be a problem. I slid the translucency(sp?) to do that. The cell render also added a different look
