Hi,
I need to rotate the pivot point in a object. how do I do that in maya 4.02? It seems I can only move the pivot...

thanks: zworp

hold down " E " and left mouse click, it will bring up a new menue for rotation.

you can go to component mode , select the local rotation axis and rotate that to change the rotate pivot. Again its only for the rotate pivot and wont effect the translate or scale pivots.

I wish maya had XSI's rotate\scale\translate from reference functionality , once you use that there is no going back , its awesome.

My problem myself is that I have a some grouped shapes and when I center the pivot then it rotates weird. I want to just get it like it is normaly. I already tried grouping the group again but that didn't help (a little thing that have worked for me before)

Component mode is one of the 3 selection modes. Theres Heirarchy, Object and Component mode. Click on the 3rd icon ( component mode ) and look for the ? ( question mark icon ) right click on it and select the 'Rotate Local Axis' option.
