hdri problems
I am trying to use some hdri images in max 4.2 for brazil.
in the manual for brazil it says this...
""""""""""
The HDRI Bitmap I/O plug-in is used for reading and writing HDRI (High Dynamic Range Image) files in Radiance Picture format (*.hdr, *.pic).
Reading the Images
This plug-in is a standard MAX Bitmap I/O plug-in. You use it the same way you do any other bitmap I/O operation in 3DS MAX. In order to take advantage of the broad range of luminance data stored in the HDR images, you will need to access the bitmap's custom load/save settings. This is done by selecting the "Setup..." button in the "Select Bitmap" dialog box.
""""""""""
but I cant get the setup button to become active and it doesnt recognize hdr images... so what do they mean by it being a standard in max???
Am I missing something???

This plug-in is a standard MAX Bitmap I/O plug-in. You use it the same way you do any other bitmap I/O operation in 3DS MAX
by this they mean it is a standard I/O plugin wich can be installed in max and that it gives the same functionality the other I/O plugins have on their own formats.
you have to install the plugin into your "3dsmax/plugins" path to make it work.
it is downloadable from http://www.splutterfish.com/sf/sf_gen_page.php3?page=plugins
hope this helps!
cheers!
oh and more free hdri images can be found at cgtechniques.com (http://www.cgtechniques.com)
