I've got a little problem here. I've got one layer of a shot with big, blobby particles emitting off a moving surface. At the moment I'm trying to create another layer to the shot using small instanced geometry to put on top of the blobby particles.
Problem: The blobby particles use goals to stick to and travel along the animated surface. Now that I need these smaller pieces to be put on top of the blobby element, they must be raised up off of the surface in order to line up with the blobby element in the final render. The smaller bits must also stick to the surface. How do I make the smaller particles (and their instanced geometry) stick/follow the surface using a goal, while also emitting them up off the surface to match the blobby element?
I've tried using the "Min Distance" and "Max Distance" controls, but with the goal in place they don't seem to work. I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks!
