View Full Version : Scene Crashes please help

I have a scene I have been animating (multiple versions) in XSI 4.2. For some reason when I open them now it keeps crashing, all versions of it is the same.

It opens in XSI 5 but I need to work on it in XSI 4. What can I do to re save the file or export it etc. so that I can go back to XSI 4 from the scene that works in 5.

Please help, I stand to lose tons of work and the project is due Fri. :(

Btw, I need the animation, bones, etc, to export from XSI 5 to 4.2

Are you referencing any objects in the scene? It seems strange that ALL of your scenes are now crashing, which would perhaps happen if an object referenced in all the scenes somehow became corrupted.

I know it is very strange. No, nothing was referenced, there were imported models however, and actions being used

could that be a cause?

Well, if all scenes are opening in XSI 5 , then someone from those scenes who crash in 4 must have been opened in XSI 5 and saved from 5 version and u don't remember it.
I don't know what will happen if u open all scenes ( that crash in 4 ) , in XSI 5 and export them using dotXSI format ...will it help ?( sorry ..never used dotXSI export tool, but it's the only idea i have to help u ).

Why don't continue working your scenes in 5 if u have no alternative?....

One thing I discovered after rinstalling is that if you had a plugin such as lume tools being used by the project, but didn't reinstall it after a clean install of XSI it will cause the scene to crash. Took me the better part of a day to figure that one out.
