hey gang,

A colleague came up with a good question. Call it the polar opposite of an edge detect. he had a bunch of closed shapes rendered as line art and he wants them filled in "flood fill" style the way photoshop does. Is there any ability like this in shake? I've had my head up 3D's butt for too long and I may be forgetting a clever technique to do this. thank you!!!

You're at Walt Disney? Don't you have a nice system called CAPS that fills in line-art shapes really well? :)

Hey archiea,

right now shake does not have a flood filling tool similar to photoshop. Do you have access to the SDK? and any programming knowledge?

there is a good paper by Alvy Ray Smith on tint fills and flood fills, here is the link
http://alvyray.com/Papers/PapersCG.htm#TintFill

its an older paper (1979), but flood fills really haven't changed since then..

cheers
