heya guys
had a play with fusion5 at a friends place, i hav fusion4 here, i thought the fusion5 interface was very 'clunky' compared to fusion 4, it seems to have many new features compared to v4, buttt... the most annoying bit is when u right click the work flow to add tools n stuff, its really easy for the menu to slip off..

anddd... does ne1 agree that the fusion 4 workflow is better with regards to the way nodes are wired up?? i noticed f5 is trying to copy shake and other compositing apps with the way the ndoes are directly connected by straigth lines.. but i reckon that sux compared to fusion4's "neater" way of wiring up each node...

das just my personal opinion i guess.

Actually I think more people wanted the direct connect pipes, I know I did. I think there's an option to go back to the old orthographic-style pipes, but for me it's much easier having the direct connect.

well a short trip to the preferences panel will let you change the way the pipes are drawn.

Appreciation doesn't come in a snap... anything worth having is worth waiting for. Spend a few months in Fusion and you'll come back to see if you can't delete this post...

And if you don't, Enjoy DF4 man!

Cheers,
Andy

Thanks for your feedback. We made some significant changes to the Fusion 5 interface, some obvious, some very subtle, or hidden beneath the surface. With any change, there are bound to be people who prefer the older approach.

If you dislike the straight line pipes, you can switch back to orthographic pipes (like the ones in Fusion 4) by selecting File / Preferences, then changing the Pipe Style option in the Flow preferences from Direct Pipe to Orthogrpahic.

If you find yourself struggling with the new context menus, you can return to using the old style of context menus by renaming the file Fusion:\Plugins\eyeon\ContextMenu.plugin so it has a different extension.

Hope that helps!

While you're at it, you can sell you car and get back the old horse or throw away your PC and install the thrustworthy typewriter again...

Anyway, I've experienced the feeling this guy is talking about and I respect his oppinion. To be honest, at first I hated the way masks cluttered up my flow, but somewhere soon I started to realise the time this was saving me.
For what it's worth: thanks for doing the things you guys do. It's nice to see the program evolve into something that feels great to me.
