vision fest is an animation festival that was featured last year on a few online publications such as /.

It's simply a contest that allows students to show their work in an International forum.

Hosted in Indianapolis, Vision Fest will be going on for the second year. The main difference between this year and last year is that the deadline has been pushed FORWARD to FEB. 10th.

Deadlines must arrive in Indianapolis by the 10th, and you can fill out the submission form found at www.visionfest.org (http://www.visionfest.org) .

You don't need to be in Indianapolis to enter the competition and as of print date, registration is free (subject to change).

Winners will be awarded cash prizes and/or trophies.
Catagories are:

3d Animation
2d Animation
Sequential Art
Integrated Media
Visualization/Simulation

So what are you waiting for? You can get some serious cash for doing what you do already!

If you have any questions, feel free to reply

Consider submitting an entry to the VisionFest (http://www.visionfest.org/) student animation festival by February 10, 2006. The competition is open to all high school and university students. Students who have recently graduated from college can still submit an entry if they work was completed while a student and before a specific cut-off date (see submission guidelines (http://www.visionfest.org/06VisionFestEntryForm.pdf) for details).

VisionFest is a juried student competition and conference created for students to share work in animation, sequential art, visualization and simulation, and to receive feedback from peers and professionals.

All entries that meet submission guidelines will receive written critiques from a panel of jurors who will select the Visionary 100 which will go on to the final competition and be publicly screened during the festival. Students attending may share their works-in-progress during the VisionFest student slammer in an informal setting.

The festival will include panel discussions, opportunities to network with industry leaders and fellow visionaries, and multiple competition screenings of student work in an atmosphere celebrating the art of animation.

I was involved in last year's VisionFest and it was definitely a worth while experience. It's a great place to, at the very least, meet and talk with others who are interested in and doing what we're doing.... professional and otherwise. The main idea of the Fest is a competition for students which is a great way to see what students around the world are creating. The chance to win a bunch of money doesn't hurt anything either. Another big part of the Fest, though, is to listen to what some industry professionals have to say about what's happening and where things are going.

I left last year's VisionFest feeling really enthusiastic and inspired. It was a very refreshing few days for me.

If you're a student I highly recommend submitting some work and getting involved with VisionFest. If you're not a student you should still come check it out... it's just a great event.
