I was wonding if anyone knows of any good, quick and easy to follow tutorial for texturing human skin. Also any tutorials involving damaged skin, cuts, bruses and blood.

I have found a cople searching through the fourms, this section inparticular but i have not found any looking at damaged skin, cuts or bruses. The texture im looking to create needs to be quite pale and look quite ill, any tricks and tips to achive this would go down nicly.

I'm quite new to texturing process and how best to use photo shop to create realistic textures in Photo Shop. I have put some examples of some of my work and it would be frigging awsome if i could get some tips and crit on my work to i can better my self and create more realistic textures.

All of these textures are for in game work and at the moment the texturing i want to be doing is going to be for ingame.

I feel as though my texturing is starting to improve but every piece i do seems as though somthing is missing from it. Little details like scrates in metal, worn areas where paint has been scratched off. I have been trying to figger this out for my self but with out to much luck. Again with the alien textures (i know the unwraps are abit bad) i just worked at them with the dodge and burn tools. They where rush jobs because we where on very short time constraints. But i want to do more then just add a little noise to a background colour and do some shading. I know i can do so much more but just have the knolage of photo shop to know how.

Again any help i can get from anyone would be much apreceated.

The best way to do this kind of texturing is to try to find some reference images in the web. Then with photoshop and a little skill on painting you could mimmick that with some custom brushes created for such goal.

For sick skin you could add some greenish color to the skin and for the scars try to use the technique of painting from dark to light, using as many layers you need to achieve the effect you are after. Remember that texturing is about faking the eye. So a certain painting skill is desirable.

Try "Dr. Julian's Texturing Tutorial" on 3dtotal.com

Very good explanations on creating a bump-, specular- and color-map. It improved me a lot!
He creates grayscale pictures from rendered maya procedual shaders to use for creating the bump map. If you don't have maya try to figure these things with filters and patterns from Photoshop, if you can. But the tutorial is absolut fantastic. I was looking for one of those for a long time!

Good luck on your work!
