Ok ok, I'm beginning to post a weeeee bit to much in here, it's beginning to scare me :argh:

Seriously tho, as I further my research, I'll like to know if there's any animated shorts out there created with Lightwave... when it comes to apps character animation tools are a huge MUST so I was just wondering that, I know already it can produce eye candy stills, but I wanna see some character animated shorts :)

We're still working on our short aswell (started that about 1.5 years ago (for school, just check the site, all that stuff, from concept and story to rendering was done in 2 and a half month...yay for Lightwave.))

We do intend to finish it...someday...we're all a bit busy right now (animators have spread all over europe (UK, Hungary) and me...well, i'm doing doing too much on Audi right now and like to spend my spare time as far away from a computer screen as possible)

good to see ya visiting more and more :bounce:

I've been busy with some character stuff...will post as soon as I'm allowed to show.

I migrated to Lightwave a couple of months ago, and never looked back...in two months, I cut down on modeling time (more than half).

Thanks people, don't worry, we're not planning on letting this die...
We're still rewriting the story (so it actually is a story rather than some unmotivated animation), i'm applying my new lighting skills and modeling some new props and backgrounds (it's amazing what you learn in the field in 1.5 years :p )

I'll see if i can update this site again with the new stuff...

Don't forget about Jimmy Newtron or Jason Fen's F8. Both excellent and done with Lightwave. I know both used Messiah at the time, but with LW 7.5, the character anim abilities have really improved. :)

BTW, nice to have you here, lildragon! :wavey:

Cheers!

Don't forget these:

405 the movie: In my opinion, this was the first time that a short created by the "average users" got national attention!

http://www.405themovie.com

The Walk: Jeff Drew from Albuquerque, NM shows the versitility of LightWave with this animated short. It was show at Sundance this year pre-ceding Robert Redfords film.

I'll post more as I think of them.

Hey Chewey, Duran also did a commercial with one of those potatoe-head characters, only this time it was done completely in LW.

I think that companies should be a little more specific in what they used the software for, when they commercial the use of their products in film. I remembered when Inspector Gadget came out, Cinema 4D (version 7XL at the time), Maxon advertised that Cinema 4D was used in the film. When I saw the full clip that was produced with Cinema 4D for the film, it was just a bunch of boxes and trains running around in the title sequences. Not that impressive at all.

The software has since been improved, but sometimes, we don't know if the software makes any significant impact in the production film at all. For example, Windows paintshop can say that it takes part in a major film simply by painting the credit at the end.

Hey Lildragon,

Not so much shorts, but a there's a fair amount of character animation in my folio, all done using Lightwave...

http://www.zerogravity.com.au/jonny

Have no doubt, Lightwave is great for character animation, and getting better all the time.

Thanks Lildragon :)

Most of the stuff there is work, so I can't really show it until it's been officially released... And most was done before I started frequenting these great forums.

I am hoping to do a couple of personal projects over Christmas which I plan to post in the WIP section.

hey lildragon!

I haven't checked the forums as often as I'd like, but last time I remember you were evaluating to do a switch to MAYA... have you changed your mind and decided on LW instead?

BTW, some Robbie Williams music videos were done in LW by Passion Pictures, as well as the 3D work done in the Gorillaz music videos. (sorry, don't have a link for those)

cheers!
