CGTalk - Can anyone help?

Hi there, i'm new to computer graphics and i'm working my way through several tutorials for 3ds max. I have run into a problem that I cannot seem to fix. I'm trying to scale up and object along an axis but the scaling axis do not match the actual axis. Is there any way that you can automatically reset the axis again? This is prob a really simple thing but i'm new to all this and still working my way around the software. Hope somebody out there can help!

I hope I understood your question are you trying to undo your mistake so that you can re-scale it, if so just press ctrl+z or the back arrow on your upper menu bar.
