CGTalk - Caustic's and Fog

Is there anyway to have no fog from the orginal souce then have the caustic light have fog eg take a ocean no fog outside but once under the surface there are thoes god beams so to speak.

or do i just fake it ?

well in c4d use inverse volumetric light... i don't know about other applications.
