I am doing something at this very moment that needs this exact thing. I do have Paul Everetts refresh material but it's a bit tricky to set up. I shall look forward to this eagerly

OK, credits where credits should be. The base for this is done by "AG" over at C4D-Treff forum.
Visit his page at:
AG Home (http://www.agzone.de/service/index.html)
and check "TextureChanger". By default it supports the ColorChannel of the material and you have to fill in the info in the COFFE code.
What I've done is to provide linkfields instead and added support for Luminance,Transparency,Alpha and Displacement.
The thing -is- blistering fast but there is no such thing as free lunch (or translating deutch, for that matter :) )
By default it uses the "tex" folder of Cinema, but by saving the scene as "SaveProject"
it uses the Project tex folder instead.
Also the texture must be picture series (but that is common sense).
In my test scene the numbers are jpg's (a few kb each) and the other texture is rla's (2.5 mb per picture!) and it plays instantly.
So for the moment it is experimental for me as well.
