View Full Version : Noir - A short

A school project. A two-man job. This film is supposed to be in the "Film Noir" style, hence it's title. Everything is pretty "noir" till the detective loses his cool over a particularly annoying fly...
This is temporary music, a custom score is being written by the "second man" now.

Well, its pretty elementary. The animation is rough, too computer-like, I think that the camera movement is overused. The camera field is too wide too. I like the contrast of emotions, from cool as a stone to raging lunatique;).

thank you for the reply!
I know the animation looks wooden...its my first animation and I spent absolutely AGES even at this, but im glad that the change in atmosphere comes across!
the camera i find very hard not to overuse...

okay, the movie is now final. black n' white effect is implemented: the noir beginning is black and white, when the atmosphere gets shattered, its colour!
also the final music is now in!

I like the atmosphere that's built around the short movie. You really do get that atmosphere, it's helped loads by the wonderful soundtrack to go with it! I like your images right up until we actually see the guy - then it has its moments of good and average - he's certainly amusing, and there are some shots which are brilliant (like the throwing of the newspaper down on the table), but others which feel like they are still unfinished works (when he jumps out the window).
