:surprised I mean I know it must be a preference thing but I'd like to modify maya somehow to make phong appear as my initial shader so I can save a couple of steps every time I try and model something, I find that phong is the best way to pick up details in a surface and I use it almost always while I model something in nurbs. I've noticed that so do most of the pros as well. Anybody know a way of changing this?

The only way I know is in Multilister>edit>Set Default Shading Group, create your shader, adjust it, and click the item, the next time you create something it will have that shader. I suppose you could also write a mel script to do all this with one click.

Thanx mate! I really appreciate it, oh by the way congratulations on that flygirl model you made, it really is amazing, any chance you could post a tutorial for newbies and not so newbies? :) :)
