Dear Guys,

Happy New Year! This is my first post here in 2006 and hopefully I could get some help!:)

After digging the articles about rendering Shave & Haircut in Maya at this forum, I still couldn't find the best solution for myself so I post my problem\question here.

I have a completely bound horse model with runcycle animation and put on Shave & Haircut as horse's hair but I only get one frame when I use Maya software render. What I am wondering is, I apply Shave & Haircut at last when I complete the whole horse model and runcycle, is there any steps that I did wrong in the process?

Many thanks for your time & Please help me!

I've been working on similar rendering problems with Shave and a Haircut and Maya 7. First off - make sure you get the most recent Shave installer, it was updated recently. That alone fixed one of my problems (or rather, one of the reasons my render was kicking out at frame one).

The best place to poke around is in MayaRenderLog in my documents/maya (if you're using Windows). This file has the same detailed info that you get from doing a batch render in command prompt. I'm guessing at what's wrong, but I'd say first off try making a new scene and importing your old file. Second off, if you are working in a hyperthreading environment I've found some problems with non-IFF renders kicking out cause of some weird depth-channel / format problem (too many bytes per channel: 255). Sometimes turning on 2D motion blur can get things to work, oddly enough, and doing an optimize scene size can help too. Good luck.
