Hi,

Can anyone direct me to some good ringwave tutorials? I'm mainly interested in good ways to texture them. I'm having absolutely no luck. No matter what I do, the ringwave doesn't look natural. I can't seem to come up with a material that hides the crisp edges of the ringwave shape.

Thanks.

Bump. I'm looking for more info on how to make these look good myself. The max info in the user guide only talks about the settings, but the whole look of the thing lies in creating a decent material, and that's the tricky part.

You just need to use gradient ramp as alpha/opacity map.

Awesome, thanx MasterBercon. I never would have considered that alternate VW mapping coordinate, I kept trying a radial gradient instead, which kind of wound up looking like a falloff map for some reason. So if I want it to be kind of streaky in e the shockwave I would just add some noise maps to the gradient ramp colors then right? Also how might I break up the hard circular edge of the ringwave, would this be further opacity tweaking, or would some kind of displacment work best? Thanks again!
