View Full Version : help with animation transparency
zoephoenix 01-05-2006, 01:00 AM I want to animate an object, but I want it to have a transparent background so I can put it on my website. Can anybody tell me how to do this..? I can't find a tutorial on it anywhere. :(

Just render into an image format that supports alpha channels (like .tga .png etc...)
You'll probably then have to convert that rendered image sequence into a format that you can put on the web.

ok, I know how to render to a .tga, etc... but... once I get that image rendered (the background shows up as black), what do I do..? I see the alpha channel, but I don't understand exactly what to do now. Does the background show up as transparent in something like photoshop (like with the white and gray default checkerboard) or do I have to complete the animation first or what..? I'm confuzzled. ;-;

you could import the images into flash and delete the black... or put it into after effects and key out the black. lol it's a tricky situation. 1 time i used an HDRI background and when i pulled the pic into photoshop, the background was automatically transparent..... iono :shrug:

just render them out as a psd and when you open them your renders up in photoshop you should have a transparent background. Once in photoshop you can save out you render as what ever format you want. Make sure that when you render you check and see that alpha Channel has a check mark next to it. That should work.
