I'm very interested to see what kind of liquids (in a glass) we can create: milk, coffee, coke, water, spa, etc....
It's very broad and about as challenging as cloth was.

keep in mind those kind of materials depend 90% on the environment they're reflecting/refracting, unlike cloth or grass

i think grass is a great idea.
a material that should be created using standard stuff, no special plugins to purchase, then made available to all for free download at the end of it.
i vote grass

Like the XTC song. Oh, different type of grass.
I suppose you would want to have a set model or way of showing it--on a 1m square turf, or a rolling field?

aye, but you can make great grass without it.

Another vote for liquids - we could set up a standard environment with just a floor and a gradient sky, then let the user add any reflective elements they need to - there's always questions about this sort of thing so I reckon it would be a really valuable resource on how to use refraction, SSS, Fresnel effects etc. Grass would be fun, but might be a bit limiting in scope.

I'd like to see tire rubber, brushed aluminium and tarmac/asphalt.
Not that I'd have anything to do with modelling cars...:D
I'm serious though, especially good rubber is difficult I think.

Liquid for me. Although I am partial to a nice bit of grass every now and again I think a liquid challenge would have more scope.

Liquid sounds like a good idea to me.
Then you could take it in any direction you can image. Oil, water, paint, thick, thin, clear, opaque. The possibilties are endless.

How about food & drinks? A nice piece of fresh SSS fish served in a procedural soy sauce, accompanied by a Chateau Fresnel de Chanlum 1985?
Damn, I'm hungry...

Liquids for me too. Since I've been lamenting lately about C4D glass/liquids. I think it'd be great to get the best-of-the-best together and has this thing out once and for all.

I'm currently doing some milk simulations so liquids fit my workflow best.

How about a glass of liquid sitting on some grass?

How about Liquids & Glass? Liquids need a container or it's just a puddle.

If it is to be grass, I would like the chalange to be expanded to include "fuzz" (a better tennis ball), plus moss, nap, fuzzy yarn, string, filiments, etc. I love the fabrics, but they don't really focus in on the micro fibres or give the "feel" of the cloth threads.
