"Carmack: We are working internally on a completely new project, but we haven't made any firm plans yet for the future of the Wolf, Doom and Quake franchises."

If anyone has any information on this, please share. I'm interested to hear what id comes up with.

I hope his mentioning of favoring 360 doesn't start another flame-war ;)

And they now have sparth (http://www.sparth.com/) in their team. Can't wait to see what they'll come up with next.

Well I bet it means we'll see something stylish :)
I'm still hoping to see a return of Commander Keen some day in a game like Psychonauts... that game proved the platformer is still far from dead and that originality CAN exist for such genres. Keen provided me with the most fun in my days as a little kid, still hoping there's a glimmer of life out there for it.

Even though I like sparth, and I like id.

I don't see how those two can mix. :S

Imagine a RPG in the visual style of Sparth's illustrations. I would kill for that. :)

I was thinking the same thing... his work is calm and soothing. the typical id art that comes to mind is an exploding body or burning skull. haha.
Maybe the 2 will balance out though :/ but then again, isn't that why Hall got let go in the past?

Dunno, that prince of persia game he worked is pretty violent in places.. his work may be serence, but I see lots of warships and soldiers in his work.. not exactly serene subjects. Could be really interesting I think this.. just hope it won't use the Doom 3 engine... plastic everywhere.

w/ Sparth on board, it would be cool if they could create a shader or effect that mimics his drawing style. put an end to straight, box lines and have a flowing world where the ink runs if you move fast, kinda like that Robin Williams movie.
