:love:thanks man!, it's nice to read that after reading a rejection from a company, if only the employers thought that!! lol!!
yeh I'll try and finish the textures on this tonight, they've been gathering dust on my hard drive for quite a bit! so I may as well get the expresso out and steam it off :)

Cor, this is looking ace! The mesh itself was looking pretty good, but those textures are really bringing it out. I like the style you've got going here.
One little niggle, though: you can see the edges of the plane at the ends of the roof (the alpha'd bit).

Hey, nice work so far....I think your textures would benefit from some finer detail, such as a bit of wear and tear on the white walls, also maybe darken the green on the wooden struts a little, could we see the texture flats?

thanks for the crits guys, yeh it still needs work, lol i've still got quite a lot of space on my flats as well as working on what's there already still, gah, plants are really hard!

The texture is coming along great, it give the hut more character great work, you should rough up the texture on the roof more, give it a more weathered look.

really nice, as people have said textures just need a little wear and tear/damage and theyll look fantastic. a little brken plaster on the walls, and a few moss patches on the roof.
bring on the coy carp!

hey, i really like your textures, although there is one thing that is bigging me, post box, it seems too red which makes it look fake.

You have a lot of free space on that UV... Maybe you could use it more... :)
Besides that, the hut looks really nice :D

there's onlly 3 512x512 texs laid out above on a square black background, i can't really use the space in between the leaves cos it kinda needs to be empty for the alpha map

While this piece has a decent aesthetic, there's a lot holding it back that I'll try to address.
Overall textures appear to be muddy, uncorrected photo sourcing, especially the woods and roof. One thing that bothers me about the roof is I can't tell what sort of material is supposed to be, and it has repetitive photo spots at the top. The wood pegs across the bottom are noticeably repetitive, and you really should take those stone-step cylinders beyond their original primitive shape. The side/back railing piece material is clearly a picture of wood with some holes cut in it. The white (plaster?) sides are too monotone, not picking up on the weatheration of the materials around them.
The best part to this piece is the foliage, though it's too aggressive in the front and nonexistent in the back.
Finally, with the level of detail already here, you should use one more 512 and detail out the interior.

thanks gradius, when you work and stare at the model for a long period of time you can't spot these things, thanks for your crits! *opens up maya scene again*

It looks great, once you get the wood textures sharpened up and more defined, it will be spot on, all it needs then is a little boat :D

Looks great, I just see it by a river with a mountain and a forest in the background...
Great use of the texture sheet as well!

its very nice i realy like the style of your hut the only think i can crit
is that the roof looks a bit strange and how Gradius already said:
"The wood pegs across the bottom are noticeably repetitive"

hiya, just an update, I've been real busy and haven't been able to work on this much lately as much as I'd like, I'm hoping to turn this into a water village, just 3 512x512 maps I'm using, 1807tris so far. I reworked the textures to make them reusable and scaled them down as they were unnecessarily big, I'm still trying to work on previous crits, just need some more time lol, yeh a boat is still needed to be added as well as some trees and and and and and................................ crits would still be apprecaited

wow thats beautiful! The red flowers just add so much to the piece! and i love the climbing plant on the mesh!
The only thing im not too keen on is the black for the window holes type thingy...
Otherwise, its hottt!

Ooh, me likey. The flowers are definitly a nice look (what type are they?), and nice designs and wording on the house.
Two things stand out to me, though. The textures on some of the vertical posts seem rather blurry, and all the plants appear to have a dark outline around the edges of the alpha.
not too keen on is the black for the window holes type thingy...
I have to agree with WAcky. If you're not going to flesh out the interior (which I think you should do, since this piece deserves further love), at least have something covering the openings, like some bamboo blinds, or something to that effect. The black makes that ara look a bit unfinished.

ah yeh, I see what you mean, the windows definitely need some more work, as does most of the texture, lol, I'll definitely get to work on that, thanks for the crits

heya, thanks for the crits people, the window did have, to quote someone, an aura of blackness, so went for a window covering, the stepping stones were getting on my nerves so i changed them as some other things

I like it so far great job! Actaully there is one thing bothering me....Its the roof. You have it fading away with the alpha map on the sides, but in the middle area there is no indication really of the straw/reeds/whatever. It looks more like dirt...I would say make it something like that, grass or something. Would make it look a little more interesting I think.

.....i had the most horrible knightmare, i was in a job interview and it
was being done X factor style, with my work on a huge tv and simon cowell
being reallyy really mean! ><
I also wanted to do moss on the roof but I have no idea what it should look like..
coming from london I don't really see mossy roofs that much, if someones got any piccys
i'd be really grateful for them
I'm just doing the rest of the village at the mo, but i don'wanna post the pics at the mo cos' it's kind of sketchy

Generally is very impressive. The moss the flowers, but there has still couple things that needs tobe work on.
1. Another layer of textures to breakup the repeatness (But i remember you said it is for low poly, for gaming. Hummm. i think it doesn't really mater then)
2. Need some serious definision on the roof top.
3. lighting. This will play a big part here. If you know anything about lighting thats great but if not, just randomly grap an HDRI image, and generate a light rig. Start from that light rig. Usually HDRI light rig will give you thousands of shadows, you've to clean it. Or get a feel of how it looks then create your own rig.

Really nice. The only thing i would change is the wall... For me, this house looks like a really nice house that would be in a river, habited by some old man lover of the art of tea... But maybe thats just how a ocidental would see it :) The wall just looks out of place.
Besides that, its really beatiful :) Love the flower!
