Title: Samurai Waterfalls
Name: Corey Loving
Country: USA
Software: Painter, Photoshop

This one's called Samurai Waterfalls. I made an earlier version last year

Heres the one I made a year ago http://www.coreyloving.com/Thoughts/SamuraiWaterfalls.JPG

Originally I wanted to simply show a peaceful scene of a Samurai resting on a rock near a waterfall. The rock he's siting on is the rock of tranquility, which is sorta what the womans face represents, peace and comfort to all that sit upon her. I hope i acheived this feeling in a sense and show a lot of progress. I see flaws in his head, his hands, his sword, the water, and other parts, but overall i'm pleased.

I worked extremly hard on this one, and I am proud of my progress throughout this year. I am excided to see just how much better i'll be by this tme next year if I can come this far. I Thank GOD for giving me this gift, and I share it with you guys. Let me know what you think.

Brilliant scene.I love the colours/composition and detail. The progress is amaginz.
If I might add a critique (and I hope that doesn't sound bad cause I really am not at your level of expertise) I quite don't like the position of his neck, it seems too compressed.

Hey, I'd be happy if I could produce something of the quality of your first attempt :-)
The second one though is fantastic. Well done.

Very cool to show your work from a year ago. You are a very talented yound man. Nice contrast between forground middleground and background. That is a tough one to pull off. One critic. I dont like the style you used on the face in the rock. Its not as rough as the rest of the work. Make it more sketchy and more rock-like. Like the Ents in lord of the rings.

Keep it up man.

I love the colors on this one.

The only thing I see wrong (and it's because I'm a sword nut) is that his sword in his right hand isn't long enough.

He's sorta leaning on it, which means that it's pressed against the stone beneath him. However, it should be about 4 inches longer in order to be the standard samurai set.

I think I'm in love with the color pallette and the concept :D

Just curious, but is the samurai based off Himura Kenshin? The hair and what looks like a scar on the cheek reminds me of him...
