View Full Version : recalculate particles

I'm having some trouble getting particles to recalculate when I change settings. I've got an object emitting particles, and a wind controller set to rotate(y) as well as a transaltion in Y. However if I calculate the particles, and then change the power of the wind, or the distance of translation on Y, the particles will not update with the new settings. I've tried recalculating, turning the particles off and then back on, but nothing seems to work.

Randomly they recalulate when I delete another object that has particles, however nothing works consistantly. It seems like Lightwave isn't getting told to recalculate, and just keeps using an internal cache or something.

I'm using Lightwave 8.3.

Any help is welcome, thanks.

hmmm, and youre not saving the pfx file by mistake? obviously if you calculate and then save the pfx, and try to recalculate it wont change a thing...
sorry if im assuming you dont know this, but thats the only reason i can think its happening...
maybe upload your scn and we will take a look?

if you change anything else besides the wind power, such as the particles weight, resistance etc, does that change the calc? turn off fixed random?

Yeah, I wasn't saving the PFX. Thanks for the help though. I just solved my problem, however. It seemed that I had another effector with the same particle group. It was tunred off, but for some reason was still calculating. When i deleted the object, or turned the effect on and then off, it fixed the problem.

Thanks for the help.
