I think you will be lucky to get any help with JSNormal Mapping in Maya.
I have posted tons of requests for help with this on various forums, and no one seems to able to tell me how to apply it
There is a selection box in Maya that allows you to apply a bump map as a tangent normal map but it never seems to work - it just applys as a bump map
The best results I've had are with the Headus network. If you want I can send it to you

Well... I guess its easy when you know how. :wise:
In hypershade middlemouse click on the JS_NormalMapper and drag the mouse to for example a lambert shader and release.
YouŽll get a small popup window. Right at the bottom it says: Other...
Click on it and the connection editor window will open.
From Outputs select: OutValue and from Inputs scrolldown until you find: Normal Camera.
Select it and your done.

hi guys I just installed js-normalmapper and I'm trying to do a mental ray render, I follow the steps mentioned in the info txt file and installed file, however when I try do what Pixero said, I can't seem to find the Outvalue in editor, only outnormal. Also I'm just wondering how do you view normal mapped object in the viewport.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

RE3456: Are you sure you are using the MentalRay shader JS_NormalMapper?
It should look like the picture above with OutValue.
The Maya software renderer shader JSNormalMapper has OutNormal.

No problem.
First question: Have you downloaded both shader from my site? They are on different webpages. Mentalray shaders and Maya shaders.
The Mentalray shader also has a "_" underscore after JS to separate them.
The MR shader always appears under texture in create MR nodes and the Maya shader under utilitys in create Maya nodes.
Edit: Ok I see you got it now.

thanks, I dled the correct one and now the normalmap is showing up in the mental ray render. However I'm still curious about how you can view the normal map in maya viewport, anyone?

I'm having some trouble with the jsnormalmapper for maya software. I installed it correctly and connected the outnormal to the normalcamera using a zbrush generated normal map. When applied, my model has black areas all over. I tried switching some of the xyz values in the shader, but with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's an example of what I'm getting. The shader was applied to the head/neck area only.

We've noticed the same sort of issues in the viewport, but when we render it everything looks the way it's supposed to. You could always hook up some sort of a normalCamera switch using a conditional or something similar.
