Simply request it from the Maxon website
http://www.maxon.net/pages/products/c4d/64bit/register_e.html
It will need a 32 Bit installation of CINEMA for reference to enable the correct modules, apart from that the two versions are seperate and should as a general rule not be mixed.
A 64 Bit version of Hair will be available soon.
Cheers
Björn

There are two big advantages: 1) it can use as much RAM as you can throw at it, and 2) it's significantly faster at rendering (due to dropped support for older cpus--not 64 bits).

how does this 64 bit version stand with a non 64 bit windows then? i pressume when 64 bit windows is released later on this year it'll be even faster then?

Free for every owner of a CINEMA 4D R9 / 9.5 Windows license.
Owners of Net Renderer for OS X can get a Net Client only version of the 64 Bit Version to be used with Windows clients.

Erm, it only runs on 64 bit Windows. You can get Win64 now, but you have to do it directly through MS.

The CINEMA 4D 64-bit version can only be used with:

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
or
Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition!

Not if you're looking to get a new version, as opposed to an upgrade:

Hey Rakesh!

Is it cheaper to upgrade? Do you then lose the rights to the 32 bit version? What is involved in dual booting? I don't suppose FR works in 64 bit? Do you have a solution for world peace :wavey: (while were at it - my new years resolution is to be 23.4% more efficient in asking questions).

Yes, exactly. M$ is not intending to sell Windows XP Professional x64 as a standalone product in stores (or online). You can only purchase it as part of a hardware system (OEM). But the online stores have taken it upon themselves to provide the OEM version if you purchase any hardware - usually something simple like a cable. If you have the right 'friends', you don't even need to purchase the hardware to purchase it (wink, wink).

To Srek: I requested the 64-bit version of R9.1 some time ago and received a download link. I then requested the 64-bit version of R9.5 and received a download link - but to R9.1 stating that:

A 64-bit version of CINEMA 4D Release 9.5 is not yet available, but you can download a 64-bit version of Release 9.1 immediately.

Do I need to rerequest or will the link allow me to get the latest 64-bit version (with hair - which I have already purchased)?

The 9.5 64 Bit version is available now, i'm not to sure whats up with that message though. I'll check with our webmaster as soon as he is back from holidays.

Yes to both, because it's the same license, rather than a new one. So it steps on the 32-bit version. The biggest disadvantage to this is that there are still some applications that aren't 64-bit stable, mostly because the drivers aren't all there yet.

What is involved in dual booting?

The short version is that you install the OS twice, once for each version. Putting them on separate partitions (easy to do, though not so easy to describe) allows you to keep them entirely isolated from each other, so you run no risk of having driver and library conflicts. There is a tradeoff in convenience though, because you end up installing a lot of software twice, once in each version, since they're separate.

When you're done, you basically just have an extra screen when you boot that allows you to choose the OS version you want to run, and if you ignore it for some length of time (configurable), it just picks the designated default.

I don't suppose FR works in 64 bit?

AFAIK it's tied to the 32-bit Cinema right now, so I don't think it does yet. Cebas will most likely upgrade pretty soon; it should be able to derive a pretty decent speedup from x86-64.

Do you have a solution for world peace :wavey:

Nah, it's too much work, and the world will find a way to ruin it anyway.

(while were at it - my new years resolution is to be 23.4% more efficient in asking questions).

One of mine involves spending less time with computers. :)

Re: fR for 64. Just install it for 32bit cinema4D.

Be aware, xp64 isn't just a benefit to 64bit apps. What flies under the radar to people is that xp64 lifts the memory per process to a full 4GB for 32bit apps.

Yes, and CINEMA 4D R9 / 9.5 32 Bit makes full use of it :)

When did you get that information? I think 9.521 64 Bit became available only a very short time ago so maybe your request predates that.

I got this just a few days after 9.5 64bit was released as well and I've since received another email for 9.5.

As duderender mentioned, soon after R9.5 64-bit release announcement - checking that email's date - 2005.12.12.

But it appears that you got through as I just received a new email several minutes ago with download link for R9.52. :)

Thank you very much, Björn!
