Yeah the lighting on the bug VS the face doesnt match. Once that is acheived, well not much else to it. Looks pretty good besides that, but unfrotunatly with compositing stuff like this its all in the lighting.

is this nose a modeled one? woav, good job!

i can't understand any details of the bug, needs some more light to expose the details or you should buy a new monitor :)

It looks like you fotographed a nose and then composited a bug inside it :) the lighting doesnīt really match.

You should light the bug until it gets clear and lighted like the face, however, donīt forget the shadow casting from the inside of the nose on the bug itself, if you get a nice contrast between the inside and the outside of the nose i think it will wok better.

first of all.... LOL i love it..

2nd Maby you should model a nose. Make it invisble so the bug would get the right shadows.

I love it!!! Exactly the expression id have if I got a bug in my nose like that! Extremley well done nose! And I like the lightning! can you give some tips about how you made the textures on the nose, and maybe post a wire?... id love that
:)

Ps.... I cant understand why people is critting so much, without appreciating this amazing picture! especially the first post just CRITTED AND CRITTED and
thats making me crazy and sad :annoyed:

Is it that hard to tell what this is, is Filipe Pina the only othe person that can see that this is a photo with the bug composited?

Yes its a funny picture, but it doesnt sell as much as it would if the lighting matched up, i think you shoudl do what McSpirit suggested and actually model the front of the nose, just the parts that would offect any shadows.

The nose is modeled and camera mapped so its not just a composit. Ill post a wireframe tonight. aside from that, I aggree with you about the lighting...
Im at work now and it looks completly different on this monitor....how strange. My monitor at home is a viewsonic to.

oh well. back to the drawing board...

Well i have to say that i was fooled. Yeah thats what sucks about monitors, it can look great on yours but what happenes when you print, r view it on another monitor.

I can't believe that is a modelled nose? I will only believe it once I see the wireframe :p Take that as a compliment please ;)

Ok, well here's the wireframe of the nose., nothing special though, just camera mapped geometry with a "towards away" falloff material in the opacity slot, with the original photograph in the background to blure the outside nostril edges. ...

To LordShaitan: (hows this for the lighting?)...

Hows it look on your monitor?

Very very nice. Much better. And let me stop by apologizing for almost flamming there, i was a tad bit tired (And altered) when i posted that.

Looks great now!!! I still have a question, the nose you modeled, to what degree of it is CG, because if most of it is then f-ing great textuering and adding little hairs and such, i just assumed it was composite because of all the details in it. Very nicely done. But there is still one little thign that catches my eye.

Black - I took the chance to point them out in the pic. The black circle is what i love about this, i think that legs of the bug fits perfectly.

Red- still looks "off" Im thinking maybe a tad bit more shadow under the fly and near the leg.

General lighting, im not sure if its the lighting or the texturing on the bug, but if you look at the face i would assume that its a photo w/ a flash, thus giving the photo a very washed out look because of the flash. Now im sure that your lights are a nice white color, but im not sure how much they could wash the color out of the bug. I think if you could fix the tiny detail with the red circle, you could mess with textures of the bug, or the lighting and it would be perfect!

Wow that was a long crit, hope it helps and again i would like to apologize for being rude.

You got us all fooled, and thats good :)
Is the texture of the nose a real photography mapped on it? Or is it a material?
