Well, as the title states I am new to photoshop, I have been experimenting with it for a while and creating basic and simple textures for my models, but does anyone know of a good website, of good tutorials to help guide me from 3D app to photoshop?

Things I want to know about.

1. Multitexturing, in combination with photoshop. I have figured out the basics, and have assembled multiple, premade textures that people have already done. Such as this, which is from the Elysiun forums, and it is only half a sphere but I applied multiple textures with different maps (Disp,Nor,Col,ect).

Basically I am trying to figure it out completly.

2. Painting and designing textures, and figuring out which tools to use depending on what I want to do.

On this subject I am wondering does anyoen use pictures, even so if you do use a picture how to make relaistic Nor and Disp maps out of them.

- I usually grab textures I find on google images, but I am now trying to fully figure out how to utilize photoshop to use with my 3D app.

What I am looking for:

Full noob to pro type tutorials

Books to buy, maybe on Amazon

I have searched a lot, but I still cannot find a full tutorial so I can grasp the "basics", and reccomendation of books would really help.

Leight did a rather comprehensive writeup on texturing, that can be found here (http://www.onona3d.com/tutorials.htm)

Thanks! This one is great, I can tell by this comment.

"Under absolutely no circumstances are you going to find how to make tack chrom surfaces or blue glass".

This might be interesting.
I'm new to PS also. Now working on making displacement maps for C4D.
Try changing your RGB images to Grayscale with Image>Mode. Tweak with Image>Adjustments. Filter>Blur>Gaussian will soften edges for nice rounded effects.
Lots to learn, but its a start.
What 3D app are you using?
Good luck. Feel free to post hints, tips, tutes.
cheers,

I am using Blender, 2.4 just came out.

Thx for the link, I think that is some of the best picture texturing I have seen.

Hi, Haker,

Here is a real brain twister for creating normal maps. Maybe some of the concepts will be helpful to you.
