View Full Version : shadows missed with mr's lights
bluerock 01-02-2006, 06:25 PM hi,
i've tried with the search button but i didn't find out nothing...
k, here there's a very fast setup scene
only one standard spotlight emitting photons, and an easy fg setup:

And here there's my problem:
http://xs62.xs.to/pics/06011/secondasd.jpg
i plugged a mic_cie_d ( temp to 5500k and int to 1 ) into the spotlight's light shader slot and i missed the direct light shadow effect...
what's wrong ?
tnx in advance

Create a correct shadow need :1.A mentalray light shader, 2.Enable shadow parameter in the light shader and render global settings window。

ehm...
mib_cie_d is a mr's light shader and in its tab, as u know, there's no shadow option.
On render settings ( plz alias recall it render globals ) which parameter i should look for ?

and here with the mib_cie_d shader plugged into the standard light.

As u can see again i miss my shadows. Raytrace or Dmap it doesn't matter, they vanish...
AAAARRRGGGH ! :scream:

thanks -tolga- for your reply, but what does it means "Open the standart light shadows" ?
i alwais leave the option checked after linking the light shader...
i'm sure i'm missing something i have the same problem with maya 6.5 and 7.0.

ok guys,
here another update...
only mib_cie_d and mib_blackbody give me problems, and the effect as u can see in the pictures above is very similar to mib_infinite_light with factor set to 1.
nobody, here, can give me an advice on how make shadows working with mib_cie_d shader ?
tnx

Attach mib_cie_d to the color of your light NOT Light shader slot....mib_cie_d cares only about color temperature so if you use it as light shader then it overides shadow information and as it has no shadow output there is no shadow
