HEAD RENDERS (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=306381)

These heads started with me wanting to improve my head modeling and texturing knowledge, they are by order in the image, from the top left to the bottom right , beeing the bottom right the most recent. the fisrt two were textured by mouse, then i received my wacom and kept trying it :P
With university i barely have time to do anything, but i try to do something lol.

frontal wireframes

Nice work, Johny. These are massive improvements over your previous work, and it shows that you learned a lot for them. I recognize them all, (though forgot some character names). Here's some nick picking for you:

Upper left: transition from forehead to hair is instant, a little hair painted on the forehead will fix that. The two lines going up from the mouth to nose are cleaner than the rest of the face.

John Goodman looks almost spot on, though the ears seem a bit undefined.

Wonka's hat really needs an extra edge loop or two for balance. He is also the only one of these where the edges are visible around the eyes

Lower left, stretching the ears up looks like an afterthought, and your texture shows this. The stretching is weird.

Bottom middle: clean up the alpha on the bangs a bit, that's just sloppy. ;)

lower right: toss in an extra plane or two in the bangs (your materials have plenty of room) to get rid of that nasty mirrored look in his hair.

All good stuff, great work!

Very nice texturework and low-poly modeling

I can only recognise three heads (I think)
Depp
Goodman
Mel Gibson ?
but who are the others ?

Wow, these look fantastic. Really nice low poly work, and those textures are really nice. Good job on the likenesses.

I'm stumped on a couple of them, though. I recognize Rickman, Depp, Billie Joe, Ewan MacGregor, and now I know the second one's Goodman. Who are the last two? They look incredibly familiar, but I can't place 'em.

Fantastic work man..I am curious..you did look at a picture of them while doing the maps. Not saying that makes them less spectacular, just wonderin. But you did pick up pretty much all the features of each actor. It resembles them very much.
You be crazy doin mouse paints....What was the time difference, if you know, comparing the mouse paintings to the tablet paintings?

The only thing that does really bother me is on a couple of them, the hair and the alpha of it are a little scetchy.

Other than that...Cant wait to see that you will be doing

hey guys, its up at the gallery ^^

zerafian : mouse painting is obviously more time taking than wacom because with the wacom imo you can control how hard you want something to be, while with mouse there isnt pressure feeling :(

wacom is like...painting with a pencil, but you can make it feel ur hand :)

Great textures and models. Really good likeness of the ones I recognise (4 and 6 I think aren't actors? Dunno them).

Good to see some Lebowski in there, too ;)
