In R7 there is a mirror function for geometry - it is a little bit wierd to use - you have to click in quadrants of the screen and then drag up or down to choose the plane of mirroring or you can use a Symmetry object.

Drop your geometry into the symmetry object, fiddle with welding etc. and then you can choose function - current to object to make it one object.

You can only mirror bones in R8, it is in plugins-moccha-mirror bone

there is no mirror! wow i though i just missed something in the manual.

so im curious... how you people do to get symetric skeletons. you rebuild each side?

is that moccha plug for r7?

JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEB!!!!!

:bounce: WELCOME TO the C4D forum!!! :bounce:

I hate to admit it... but w/ all of my models.. I have to manually do all bones on both sides. It's really really time consuming.. but hey... you take the bad with the good I guess... Bummer, huh!

Overall though... I love v7. You do realize if you choose to use it as well, we can work on a collaboration! You know I've been wanting to for a while!

Anyway... I guess that's the unfortunate answer to your question

**edit**
Oh yeah... when I mirror... I just use a "symmetry object" and when I like the result, I use the button that converts primitives to meshes... I don't know what it's called. but it looks like two vases. I can explain better when I get off of work. The only problem is that it doesn't work for bones

well, i was afraid that that was the answer.

thanx adrian.

isnt there any plus in that may work like it.

or any one has a skeleton template to share. only to learn how its done. and all the IK thing.

for XL7 there is no function for mirroring bones, the one in Mocca is fantastic, can't believe I lived with out it, but if your going to stick with XL 7 then there are two options I know of. the first is a plugin called Golem created by Donovan Kieth. I haven't used the bone mirror in that suite cause I don't have it, but never heard huge complaints about the bnoe mirroring, another option is the old -1 scaling option, simply type "-1" in the scaling of the coordinates manager on the bone heirarchy. :)

I can make you a tutorial on weighted vertice boning in C4D tonight.

Can you send me the mesh to your latest model? You know.. that evil one =)

I can rig it up for you... and being how I now know how to bone shoulders... it shouldn't be a problem!

I'll just make a step by step tut about how to do it

***edit***

Kaiskai! I gotta try that -1 trick! if it works... that would be way too sweet!
