I choose Batch render, get this:

Image name is now contor
// Result: saving temporary file V:/Maya/w221/w221/scenes/contor__2804.mb //
// Result: Rendering with mental ray... //
// Result: Rendering Completed. See mayaRenderLog.txt for information. //

mayaRenderLog.txt says this:

1/1/2006
mental ray for Maya 7.0
mental ray: version 3.4.5.2, 06 July 2005
File read in 7 seconds.
Result: V:/Maya/w221/w221/scenes/contor__2804.mb
mental ray: wallclock 0:00:11.94 total
mental ray: allocated 1 MB, max resident 2 MB

What am I doing wrong? I wish to render an animation sequence frames 1-60.

By default Maya will only batch render 1 frame.

Go to the Render settings window and change the "Frame/Animation Ext" option to "name.#.ext". Maya will now render out an image sequence "yourscenename.00.tga" etc...

Make sure you set the Start and end Frame up properly and take notice of the Frame Padding option.

Already did that, any other ideas?

set your export verbosity(render global - translation) to info messages or deeper to get better info in renderlog.txt

I'm seeing this too:

Warning: Can't perform polySplit2 on disabled selection

How do I find out what this is, assuming it is holding up the batch render (why does regular current view render work?)

I have verbose on messages, but the mayaRenderLog.txt has nothing more than this:

1/2/2006
mental ray for Maya 7.0
mental ray: version 3.4.5.2, 06 July 2005
File read in 7 seconds.
Warning: Can't perform polySplit2 on disabled selection
Result: V:/Maya/w221/w221/scenes/wed_night__3564.mb
mental ray: wallclock 0:00:13.01 total
mental ray: allocated 1 MB, max resident 2 MB

Lolly, I cut and pasted the scene into a new one and it is rendering from the comand line now, but when I open the scene I still see the error that polySplit2 cannot be performed on disabled selection.

do you know where I can find this object or history? I have tried globally deleting all history and have gone through the Object Display list... I don't see it, how can i find it?

Thanks Lolly, I appretiate the offer to help, but the file is my clients and I can't share it. I have it working, even with the error using MayaBatch -render <filename>.

The error still shows, but does not stop the render.
